LiveDavao Editorial Standards
These are the standards we write to. They are published here so readers know what to expect, and so it is easier to tell us when something falls short of them.
1. Pricing
- Ranges rather than single figures. A Davao 1BR rent is quoted as "PHP 18,000–22,000 in Lanang, Q1 2026" rather than "PHP 20,000". A single number implies a precision the market does not have.
- Prices carry a date. Either an as of date beside the figure, or a sentence naming the window it was sampled in.
- Linked to a source where one exists. Government and utility rates link to the publishing body. A figure that comes from watching the market rather than from a rate sheet is described that way in the same sentence.
2. Named specifics over generic categories
We try to name things: "Accenture Davao" rather than "a major employer", "Verdon Parc and Avida Towers Davao" rather than "several condos", "Matina Crossing and Matina Pangi" rather than "flood-prone barangays". A generic noun is usually a sign the detail was not checked, so we go back for the specific.
3. Written for people who live here
Guidance is written for Davao readers, and in Bisaya where that is the more useful language for the point being made — Davao Bisaya, not Cebu Bisaya.
4. Voice
Grounded local guide — the register you would use explaining the city to someone who just moved here. Plain description over adjectives, and Davao specifics over general Philippines advice.
5. Answer first
Articles try to lead with the answer. A reader who came for one number should find it near the top rather than after four paragraphs of preamble, and sections aim to say their thing plainly instead of announcing what they are about to say. Where a question comes up often, we try to answer it directly.
6. Tools + data
Each Davao calculator shows the math behind it — the rate base, the assumptions, the sources and the uncertainty band — along with the date those figures were last checked, so you can judge how much weight the output deserves.
7. Links
- Articles link to related articles, so a reader following a thread has somewhere to go next.
- Internal links are meant to point to published articles; drafts and scheduled pieces are not linked from live content.
- Where a topic has a matching calculator, we try to point to it.
8. Freshness + corrections
Articles carry a publish date and a last-updated date in the byline — that date is the real signal of how current a figure is. The windows below are the review cadence we aim for, not a guarantee:

Things do go out of date, and some figures are harder to pin down than others. If you spot an error, the contact page reaches us; we correct what we can verify, and a material correction moves the article's last-updated date.
9. What is out of scope
- No affiliate-linked recommendations, and no paid relationships with named buildings, banks, ISPs, or remittance services.
- No anonymous listicles. If something is named, there is a reason it is named.
- No general Philippines advice republished as Davao guidance.
